Suzanne Herbst Obituary

Suzanne Herbst, 88, of Twelve Mile, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Wellbrooke of Westfield.

She was born on July 2, 1937 to Maynard W. and Thelma L. (Bender) Ebert. Suzanne’s life was largely spent as a homemaker and mother to her six children, but she was involved in numerous activities. She was very involved in genealogy, and she was active in providing services for various church related functions. Suzanne was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and also the Daughters of the American Revolution. Throughout the years, she served as a Sunday School teacher and even helped wash linens at the church. She was dedicated towards the health and wellbeing of the community providing services such as multiple years of volunteer service for Meals on Wheels through Dukes Memorial Hospital and for several years she donated food and services towards Thanksgiving Meals at the Presbyterian Church in Peru of which her parents were members. - She earned her CMA having graduated top of her class from Ivy Tech State College in 1995. She was a member of Phi Omega Kappa sorority.  She utilized her professional certification as a CMA working in health information medical services as a medical transcriber at Four County Counseling Center. She had a love for nature and the environment. She  earned her Master Gardener alumni status from the Purdue University Extension Office. This honor was achieved through many years of dedicated volunteer service hours in efforts aiding the environment.

Suzanne is survived by her husband, Lawrence J. Herbst, her children: Katharine (Ilyas) Holmes of Zionsville, Indiana, Amanda Beihl of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Julianne Thedans of Lafayette, Indiana, Bernard (Margie) Herbst of Fortville, Indiana, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother, Weldon Ebert of Peru, Indiana and sister, Carolyn Barnes of Colorado.

She is preceded in death by her son, Joseph Randall “Randy” Herbst, a daughter, Christianne Gladish, and a brother, Herbert Ebert.

Respects can be paid at the graveside on Monday, October 6, 2025 from 11:00am-12:00pm at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru, Indiana.
