Patricia "Penny" Ann Mongosa

Patricia Ann Mongosa, affectionately known as “Penny,” passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025 in Bethany, Oklahoma with family by her side at the age of 74.

Penny was born on July 12, 1951 in Peru, Indiana to the late Lawrence Mongosa and Patricia (Corum) Mongosa-Ellison. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Barr.

Penny will be lovingly remembered by her siblings: Brenda (Charlie) McCord, Dea (Butch) Masters and Larry (Christy) Mongosa, as well as many nieces and nephews who brought her great joy throughout her life.

Penny’s warmth, humor and spirit touched everyone who knew her, including the nurses and aides who assisted her. Penny’s life was a testament to her strength and resilience. A devoted believer in Jesus, her faith was the foundation of her life. It guided her through every season- giving her peace in hardship, joy in the everyday and hope beyond this life. She faced every challenge that came her way with grace, determination and a sense of humor that lifted those around her. Penny’s strength wasn’t  loud  but was deeply felt. It lived in her loyalty, her compassion and her unshakeable love for her family.

In a final act of generosity, Penny chose to donate her body to scientific and medical research-a powerful reflection of her selfless nature and desire to help others, even beyond her time Earth-side.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
