Michael Kermit Bullock, 77, was welcomed into heaven, his new home, at 9:30 a.m. on Valentine’s Day, Monday, February 14, 2022, after spending several weeks at Community Howard Regional Hospital in Kokomo, and then staying a few days at the Century Villa Health Care & Rehabilitation Center in Greentown, Indiana. Mike was born on August 22, 1944 to William and Dorothy (Adams) Bullock in Richmond, Kentucky. He grew up most of his life in Peru, Indiana.
Mike married Lana (Black) Bullock on October 2, 1965, and had a family of five children: son Peter (Alex) Bullock, daughter Stacey Bullock, son Jesse Bullock, son Jason Bullock, and daughter Davina (Chris) Haywood. Mike enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren very much. Also he loved all of his nieces and nephews. Family was very important to him.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents: William P. and Dorothy E. (Adams) Bullock. He is survived by his sister, Mary (Mark) Donaldson, his sister, Janet (Jim) Cattin, his sister Jane (Tom) Hopewell, and his brother, Jack Bullock.
Mike had recently been attending the First Church of Christ in Peru, and previously had been a member of the Peru Church of the Brethren, where he enjoyed teaching a children’s class. During his illness, these two churches, plus Zion Chapel Church in Peru, and Tabernacle Baptist Church in Denver, NC, supported Mike and his family with calls, cards, flowers, and many prayers.
He participated in a weekly Bible study where he made many wonderful lifetime friends. He also completed an accredited Bible study class for three years.
Mike graduated from Peru High School in 1962. He earned two degrees at Purdue University: Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering. Mike started his career at IBM in Lexington, Kentucky and enjoyed transfers to Boulder, Colorado and Charlotte, NC. He was involved with nine patents for IBM. After retirement there, he began a custom home design business: Affordable Home Designs.
Mike and his wife returned to their hometown, Peru, IN, in 2014 and have enjoyed living on a property with a pond. He was an avid fisherman in his younger years and continued to fish while his health allowed him to.
Mike had several aquariums of tropical fish as a young man and kept a large aquarium tank full of fish for several years in Peru.
He enjoyed watching NASCAR races and rooting for his favorite driver. For his 60th birthday, Mike was gifted a Richard Petty driving experience at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte, NC, by his children. He did good getting into the car through the window and had a top driving speed of 141 miles per hour, which was better than the younger men who had even done it before. That was a fun experience!
