Louis W. Myers

Louis W Myers, 88, Peru, Indiana, passed away at 9:56 pm July 20, 2013 at Caring Hands, Peru, Indiana. He was born October 29, 1924 in Peru, Indiana to Arthur and Lula Myers. Louie married the love of his life, Arvilla (Billie) C. Wilson on April 24, 1943 in Peru, Indiana and she survives. They met at a Halloween party. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on April 24th of this year with a reception attended by family and friends. He has resided in Peru all his life. Louie served in the Army during WWII from 1943 to 1946. He worked on the C&O Railroad as a Carman for 32 years. He loved to fish, camp, travel and play slots at the casinos. He loved spending time with family. He helped all of his kids with their home improvement projects. On October 4, 2011, he was able to fly on the Honor Flight to visit the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C. with his grandson, Jason, a former Marine. He is survived by his children Debbie (Dan) Fettig, Peru, Steve (Jamilee) Myers, Peru, Louie Jr. Myers (Stacey Wilkinson) Denver, Indiana and Mike (Diane) Myers of Syracuse, Indiana. A daughter, Janet, and brother, Raymond, proceeded him in death. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren; Ronnie Everett, Josh Everett,Greg Douglass,Nikki Swihart,Chad and Aaron Douglass, Brice, Brett and Lindsay Myers,Matthew,Apryl and Jason and Jenna Myers. He is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, July 24 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru with Pastor Dave Ross officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Mexico, Indiana. Friends may call Tuesday, July 23 from 4pm to 7pm at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru. Military service will be provided by the Miami County Military Rites Team.
