On Saturday June 25,2022, there was a Joyous, yet Raucous, celebration in Heaven as Jane A. Baker received her “Well done my good and faithful servant!” from her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Jane was born January 12, 1935 to Kenneth P. and Leona I. York, in their home just west of Peru. She was a graduate of Bunker Hill’s Neely Elementary School and Bunker Hill High School. She then continued her education at Ball State University and St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Pierre, South Dakota where she received her nursing degree. Jane had the gift, the heart and the spirit to care for others which she did over her entire career. When asked she would say her most fulfilling years in nursing came just prior to her retirement when she specialized in private care for individuals with special needs.
While Jane in fact was a tremendous care giver as a nurse, she would also say her greatest love, sense of accomplishment and source of joy came from her being a mother and grandmother. Jane has 4 children: James W. Baker (Denise), Jon W. Baker (Amanda), Julianne A. Studley(Doug) and Jayanne A. Baker. 7 grandchildren: Lyndsey, Brandon, Chelse, Cambri, Maizie, Emma and Jake, and 5 great-grandchildren: Grace, Zoey, Elsa, Chance and Colin.
She is survived by her brothers Wilson (Bill) D. York and James (Jim) O. York. She is preceded in death by both her parents and her grandson Brandon J. Baker.
There will be a visitation and time of remembering Friday July 1, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at Flowers-Leedy & Allen Funeral Home, 136 South Elm Street, Bunker Hill, Indiana.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Allen Funeral Home. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.FlowersLeedyAllen.com.
