James (Jim) Ray Davenport 63 of Peru, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 25, 2022, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, surrounded by the love and support of his children and family.
He was born in Kokomo, Indiana on April 17, 1959, to Margaret L Gressley. Later in life he recognized George Bookmiller as his father. Both parents preceded him in death.
Jim enjoyed the Dallas Cowboys, playing with his grandchildren, loved watching Cops and Ghost Stories, and loving on his dogs. He loved looking at Facebook to see what his grandchildren were doing and liking every picture posted.
Jim is survived by one sister Linda (Roy) Stickney of Chicago, brothers Rick (Bea) Davenport of Texas, and John Davenport of Indiana. His children: Randy (Charlene) Davenport of Utah, and Angela (Eric) Fornelli of Knox, and grandchildren: Ronald, Curtis, and Savanna. He is also survived by his ex-wife and friend Joni Davenport. He was dearly loved by his nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his beloved son Joey Davenport of Peru.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Peru Church of The Brethren 134 E. 5th Street, Peru, Indiana 46970 from 10am to 12pm. The funeral service will follow at 12pm with Pastor Phillip Troxell officiating. Burial will take place following the funeral at Sunset Memory Garden 2097 W Alto Rd, Kokomo, IN 46902.
Luncheon for family and friends will take place at the church following the burial.
