Dorothy Mae Dennis 92 passed away on Saturday, November 09, 2024, at Blair Ridge Senior Living facility in Peru, Indiana.
Dorothy was born 08/26/1932 in Walhalla, South Carolina to Elijah J. Litman and Janie Rosa (Mitchell) Litman. She married Lewis Dennis on August 04, 1952, and was happily married for over 40 years until his death on August 11, 1991. Dorothy never dated after the passing of her life long love. She was also preceded in death by her loving daughter Dorothy, we call her (Precious) Dennis.
Dorothy served our county in the Airforce, which is where she met and eventually married Lewis. After Lewis’ retirement from the Airforce, we moved to Peru in 1971. Dorothy worked at several places in Peru over they years to include AGP, Millers Marry Mannor and Eastwood place where she retired as the Activities Director. After retirement, she continues driving people to hospital appointment and to get groceries, she also volunteered at Handy Capable and always had a smile on her face when she would great customers. She loved working with and taking care of people throughout her life to include babysitting dozens of children in Peru. She was known to walk the hallways of Dukes hospital and just stop in and visit, comfort and pray with strangers if she felt they were sad or lonely. Dorothy was a member of First Brothern Church in Peru for over 40 years, and she deeply love God to the core of her soul.
She is survived by sons Lewis Dennis of Tulsa, Ok, Elijah Thomas Dennis (Christy) of DesMoines, IA and four Grandchildren, Parker, Voshon, Shyla, and Jamal. Dorothy was also bless with four great grandchildren.
All of Peru cared about Dorothy because she cared about everyone.
Services will be at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana on Wednesday November 27, 2024 noon to 2:00.
