Zelbert Leaman Phillips of Peru, Indiana. Thursday August 26th at 9:30 PM. Zelbert went to be with the Lord peacefully at home with his family by his side. Zelbert was born May 16th 1934 in Putnam County, Tennessee. He married Carol J. Buzbee on August 23rd, 1952. He worked for Bushhog Freeman of Peru for twenty-five years. He then worked for Markon until he retired.
Zelbert was preceded in death by his wife Carol, father Samuel, mother Dora, brother Freeman, Sister Syvilla Gambrell, grandsons Billy and Earl McQueen and an infant granddaughter. He is survived by his children: Marilyn Phillips, Debra K. Lawler and husband James, Nancy McQueen, Terry Phillips and wife Becky, Jerry Phillips and wife Mary, Jackie Phillips, Sammie Phillips, Kevin Phillips, Mike Phillips and wife Linda, Jon Phillips, 25 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and his beloved dog Little Bit.
Visitation will be held Monday August 30th, from 4 PM – 7 PM at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W 3rd St, Peru, IN 46970. Service is Tuesday, August 31st at 10:00 AM. Graveside service will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru, Indiana.
An after-funeral potluck reception will follow the graveside service at The Lord’s Fellowship Church, 51 Jefferson Ave, in Bloomfield Area, Peru, Indiana.
