William "Bill" Biddle Obituary

William (Bill) Reed Biddle, 95, passed away on August 2, 2025 and peacefully entered his eternal home to meet his Lord. He was born on August 11, 1929 in Nead, Indiana, the son of Clarence L. and Tivola (Reed) Biddle.

Bill graduated from Bunker Hill High School in 1947 after which he worked for the C&O Railroad before entering the Navy in 1950. While in the Navy, Bill served on the USS Preston as a Machinist 1st Class during the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge from the Navy in 1954, Bill returned to Peru and rejoined the C&O/Chessie System Railroad where he worked as an engineer until his retirement in 1993.

On November 2, 1968, Bill married Norma R. (Brooks) Fisher in Peru and enjoyed a long and wonderful life together filled with many good times and good friends. Bill and Norma enjoyed bowling in leagues and tournaments on the C&O bowling league, activities through their memberships with the local Moose Lodge and the Maennerchor Club, annual trips to Las Vegas and Laughlin, Nevada, trips to Bill's Navy ship reunions around the country, and spending time with each other and family on their boat on the Mississinewa Reservoir and Lake Manitou.

Bill’s interests included his church (First Christian Church of Peru) where he was a member much of his adult life, taking care of his family, enjoying their home on Bunker Hill Pike that he and Norma had built, get-togethers with their C&O Retirees group, working on his farm along the Wabash River and the Valley Mobile Home Park that he once owned, as well as the Republican Party. In his later years, he looked forward to watching his favorite team the Indiana Pacers and spending time with family and friends.

Bill is survived by his stepsons Tim Fisher of Peru and King Fisher (Sally) of Rockport, Indiana, grandchildren Jordan Fisher (Jenn) of Mount Vernon, Indiana, Jessica Fisher of Kevil, Kentucky, Chase Fisher, Kendall Fisher and Zane Fisher all of Rockport, Indiana. And, great grandchildren June Fisher and Brooks Fisher of Mount Vernon.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by Norma, his wife of 50 years, and by stepson Mark Fisher.
