Wayne Edward Jones

Wayne Edward Jones, 86 of Peru, Indiana died peacefully at home January 9, 2026. He was born on December 4,1939 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He attended Arkansas Tech before graduating from Baylor University. He served 12 years in the USAF as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer with stateside assignments as well as Turkey and Thailand. He married Donna Jane Burrous, an AF nurse, in Altus, Oklahoma June 25, 1967. Wayne worked at Active Products in Marion, Indiana where he excelled in Production Control. Always the optimist, Wayne served as a rock of stability as a father and husband. Calm and quiet, he was a strong and dependable resource and support. Wayne enjoyed camping, travel, Lions membership, and his grandchildren, spending happy hours watching their sporting events. He volunteered for many years in the Peru Amateur Circus and enjoyed the wildlife around his home, especially watching the birds.

Wayne was a long-term member of Parkview United Methodist Church and served in multiple positions. He led a life of quiet faith and rested in the hope of eternity with Christ.

 Wayne is survived by his wife, Donna, his children Wayne Edward Jones Jr., (Mary), David Anthony Jones (Peggy), and Robert Riley Jones (Jessica), and grandchildren: Shannon Marie (Luke), Colin Maxell (Shelby Shipper Fiancée), Ryan Anthony, Landon David, Riley Allyn, Lydia Jane, Jackson David, and Nolan Anthony.

He was preceded in death by his parents Walter Carroll Jones, Jessie Varnell (Overbey) Jones, and siblings Walter Carroll Jones, Jr., and Beverly Gail (Cogburn) Jones.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Flowers Leedy Funeral Home,105 West 3rd Street, Peru, Indiana on Saturday, January 17, 2026. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM followed by a service at 5:00PM led by Pastor Jim Butler.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to EastPointe Bible Church (Missions), 1540 E Paw Paw Pike, Peru, IN (46970).
