A casual celebration of life will be held for Wayne Alan Black on Wednesday from 4 to 7pm at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W. 3rd Street, Peru, IN. Wayne passed on to a better place on December 4, 2015 at the age of 66.
He had so much love for the family he’s leaving behind: his wife, Berta, and son Adam (Cindy). The lights of his life: his grandchildren Ashley (Blake) Douglas, Alexandra and Kyle Black. His heart continued to be broken over the loss of his son, Aaron Black.
He felt blessed to have his mother Lucille Huddleston, twin sister Jayne Black, who held a special place in his heart, a brother Terry Black, and sister Lana (Mike) Bullock, brother and sister in-laws Don and Ellen Englehardt, and Richard and Darlene Thurston, several nieces and nephews and their families. His father, Carl Black, preceded him in death.
Wayne was employed by Miami County Highway for 39 years. Although he had many friends there, he had two brothers of the heart, Randy Hileman (Fran) and Dan Baker (Tammi). No words can express how grateful he was and how much fuller his life was because of these two friends.
Being a compassionate person with a desire to help others, Wayne volunteered as an Emergency Medical First Responder with the Denver Fire Department for 13 years and had many good friends there. He was giving to all, even after life. He also enjoyed feeding and viewing wildlife, the Native American culture, and working around the home. He put every nail into the home of him and his wife, and since retiring at the end of August, had many plans for other home projects and to travel.
Wayne brought such fun and laughter with his long winded storytelling that we so enjoyed even if we had heard the same stories before. He was a practical joker and had a great sense of humor.
Wayne will be missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Denver Fire ERU.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.
Burial Date: December 9, 2015
