Virginia C. (Shilling) Hedrick

Virginia C. (Shilling) Hedrick, 78, of Peru, passed away at 1:50am on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home.

She was born in Peru, Indiana on August 24, 1941 to Charles Shilling Sr. and Martha (Austin) Shilling.  She married Alvin Hedrick Sr. on December 23, 1964; married for 55 years.  Virginia was a housewife, mother, and drove for car lots.  She enjoyed traveling and looking at nature and animals.  She loved spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.

She is survived by her husband, Alvin Hedrick Sr., as well as their children: Alvin Hedrick Jr. (Karen) of Colorado, Jimmy Hedrick of Peru, and Tina Hedrick of Peru.  Also surviving are three grandkids: Destiny Chantel Wingard Hann, Brittany Hedrick, and Anthony (Tony) Blair; and three great-grandkids: Dalyn Quinn, Desirai Quinn, and Freedom Rose Hann.  Also surviving are brothers Ralph Shilling of Peru, Charles Shilling (Marilyn) of Peru, and sister Linda Conner (Bert) of Oxford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Martha Correll (Dean), and sister-in-law Judy Shilling.

Visitation will be held from 11am – 1pm on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana, with funeral service to follow.  Burial will take place at a later date.

Following the service, family and friends are all welcome to meet at the Literary Aid Society, 21 West Canal, Peru, Indiana, where we’ll have food.  If you would like to bring a side dish, it would be welcomed.
