Violet V. Bacon, 83, of Mexico, Indiana, passed away at 8:10am on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at her residence.
She was born in Peru on January 15, 1937 to Russell and Freda (Correll) Awker. She married James “Jim” Walter Bacon on January 16, 1955. He preceded her in death on November 25, 2003. Violet retired in 2004 as the admissions coordinator for Miller’s Merry Manor. She was also a member of the Mexico Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time at Lake Manitou. She loved to cook, liked sewing, flower gardening, and was very involved in her church. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, and attended as many events of her children and grandchildren as she possibly could.
She is survived by her children Debra Bradley (husband Doug) of Syracuse, Jim Bacon (wife Melinna) of Logansport, and Gina Million (husband Tom) of Peru; as well as grandchildren Jason Bradley (Alyssa), Nick (Kelly) Bradley, Heather Nolte (husband Travis), Amy Bacon, Sara Daugherty (husband Jeff), Zac Million, Spencer Million, and Tyler Million; and great-grandchildren Alexis Bradley, Zoey Bradley, Maci Bradley, Dylan Pearson, Blake Pearson, Wyatt Nolte, Miles Daugherty, Madison Daugherty, and Addison Million. Also surviving are sisters Vera Foister of Kentucky, Avis Harris of Roann, Sherry Beeching of Peru, and Carolyn Murgaw of Gas City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother Dick Awker, and sisters Shirley Awker and Brenda Awker.
Funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana, with Pastor Kyle Schnitz officiating. Burial will follow at Ever-Rest Memorial Park in Logansport, Indiana.
