Theresa “Terry” Irene Hobson of Peru, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 25, 2026. Born Theresa Irene Heiney on January 17, 1947, in Tampa, Florida, she was the beloved daughter of Mattie Irene Crawford Grimes Heiney and Thomas Webster Heiney.
Terry spent her early childhood in Tampa, Florida, before her family moved to Morocco. Her father, Web as he was affectionately known, served as a civil service engineer at Nouasseur Air Force Base. Terry cherished her years overseas and fondly remembered exploring Casablanca and Bouskoura with her family and childhood friend, Earl. In 1963, following the closure of the base, Terry and her family returned to the United States, settling in Kokomo, Indiana.
Once in Kokomo, Terry met Charles, “Chip”, Hobson while both were employed at Hank’s Grocery Store. They married in January 1967 and began their life together in Kokomo before moving to Peru, Indiana. Terry devoted herself to her family as a homemaker and loving mother to Kimberly Sue, Sean Michael, and Debra Lynn.
Terry was known for her cooking and baking, and she loved opening her home to host family and friends. After her children entered school, she worked at Rink’s Department Store and later at Country Cousin’s Children’s Store in Peru.
One of Terry’s greatest joys was being a grandmother. She treasured time with her seven grandchildren and was deeply involved in their lives, from everyday care to school and community activities.
Terry was an active member of Grace Brethren Church, generously giving her time and sharing her love of cooking with her church family. In retirement, Terry and Chuck enjoyed wintering in southwest Florida, spending time with their son, Sean, and welcoming visits from their daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Terry is survived by her husband of 59 years, Chuck; her children, Sean (Eileen) Hobson and Debbie (Jason) Hahn; grandchildren, Ryan (Ariel) Hobson, Joshua (Katie) Hobson, Shelbianna (Christian) Fulton, Samantha Hall, Nicklaus Hahn, Addyson Hahn, and Benjamin Hahn; and great-grandchildren, Lennox Lockhart, Kyler Hobson, Raylynn Hobson, Jackson Fulton, and Myles Fulton. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Hall; her parents, Thomas and Mattie Heiney; and her brothers, Thomas and Charles Heiney.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a celebration of life at Grace Brethren Church, 430 S. Broadway, Peru, Indiana, on August 5, 2026. Visitation will begin at 9 am with Jeff Patton commencing the funeral service at 11 am. Immediately following, a private family burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery. Lastly, Grace Brethren Church Family will host a meal for family and friends.
