Stefan “Steve” M. Hawkins, 65, of Peru passed away at Blair Ridge Health Campus on Sunday, July 5, 2026.
He was born in Worms, Germany on December 28, 1960 to the late Charles E. and Marianne E. (Kull) Hawkins. Steve proudly served for 8 years as an electrician in the United States Air Force.
He enjoyed playing video games and watching movies. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Peru. Steve loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandkids. He was truly a great guy who will be missed by many.
Steve is survived by his fiancé, Alice Wainscott, furbaby, Maggie Mae, children; Amber Lobstein of Texas, James Earnest of Texas, Elizabeth Earnest of Indiana, Nicole Earnest of Indiana, 9 grandchildren, siblings; Patty (Jim) Books of Indiana, Margot Morgan of Indiana, Bryan Hawkins of Indiana, Charlie (Janel) Hawkins of Indiana, Lee Eric (Hannah) Hawkins of Indiana, Debbie Shrock of Indiana, Vickie (Brian) Boruff of Indiana, Robert “Bobby” (Charlotte) White of Indiana, and Don (Paul) White of Florida, and several special friends.
In addition to his parents, Steve is preceded in death by his sisters, Tina Salinas, Charlotte Hawkins, and brother-in-law, Bud Shrock.
Visitation will be held from 11am to 1pm on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at the First Church of Christ, 2584 S. Business US-31, Peru. The funeral service will follow at 1pm with Pastor Shane Capps officiating. Interment will take place at Springdale Cemetery in Bunker Hill, Indiana. Military rites will be provided by the Miami County Military Rites Team.
