Obituary

Sheryl K. Cover

Nov. 30, 1947-Aug. 2, 2023

Sheryl (Sherry) K. Cover passed away peacefully into the arms of her Savior on August 2, 2023.

Sherry was born on November 30, 1947, in Peru, IN, to Raymond and Donnabelle (Hinesley) Nestleroad; both of whom preceded her in death. She had one brother, Rodney C. Harrison of Dallas, TX, who also preceded her in death. She grew up on a farm in Amboy, IN, where she spent time with her two horses, Lucky and Twilight, the billy-goat, Herkadiddle (Herk), Spotty Jean the dog, and many other animals. She also helped her parents with farm chores and responsibilities.

Sherry was a 1965 graduate of Oak Hill High School, where she was involved in Glee Club, Pep Club, Tri-Hi-Y, and various other activities.

She married William (Bill) L. Cover on September 9, 1973. Together, they raised two children: Denise K. (Sholty) Rairigh (husband Jim, who preceded her in death) of Peru, IN, and William Coty Sholty, who also preceded her in death. She was also loved dearly by three grandchildren, Kayla C. Lockwood of Sanford, FL, Brandon J. Rairigh, who preceded her in death, and Tayler L. Rairigh of Peru, IN, as well as three great-grandchildren, Braelynn L. Rairigh, Arianna Ceballos, and Vincent Lockwood. Sherry also had several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

After retiring from Delco after many years, Sherry worked at the Peru YMCA for a few years, and spent the remaining years of her life as a homemaker, taking care of her family and friends, and volunteering at Dukes Memorial Hospital, among various church and community functions. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, crocheting, arts & crafts, antiquing, music, watching for hummingbirds and cardinals, maintaining her flowers, and traveling to Branson, MO, and other places to see their best friends, Tom & Kaye.

A strong woman in her Christian faith, Sherry was a humble servant and was generous and loving to everyone she came in contact with, putting others before herself, even amid her own struggles. Her strong testimony and example will never be forgotten; she has left a legacy of strength.
