Sherry Joanne Gehring (Dill) 90, Peru, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at home with her loving son at her side. She was born to the late Milton Kelsey Dill and Madeline Louise Dill (Fanning) on September 6, 1932, in Peru. Sherry married her husband, of 72 years, George (Bud) Victor Gehring on July 21. 1949.
Sherry was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church, Maennechor and the Good Sam’s Campers Club. Over the years Sherry worked at Senger Dry Goods Company, Jupiter Department Stores and Memcor Inc., but her most cherished jobs over the years by far was being a school bus driver for Peru and Maconaquah School Districts.
Sherry was involved with her local church and loved to help organize and assist with bake sales, fund raisers and holiday noodle making. It was not uncommon to find her and Bud on the golf course in a couple’s match. She was social and an active member of the community.
Sherry will be dearly missed. She is survived by her two sons, Stephen (Bonnie) Gehring, Peru & Michael D. Gehring, Macy; eight grandchildren, Justin (Sabrina) Akard; Jessica (Bo) Bussard; Shane (Angela) Gehring; Beth Brown; Joanie Brown; Shannon Glassburn; Tara (Kenny) Bardwell; Michael V. T. Gehring; eleven great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. Sherry was preceded in death by her loving husband George Gehring and brother William (Bill) Dill.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana. Viewing will be from 11 AM until 1 PM with funeral services to follow at 1 PM. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru. Flowers can be sent to the funeral home and the family asked that any donations go to the Main Street United Methodist Church in Peru.
