Ruth "Jeanette" Hunter Obituary

Ruth “Jeanette” (Mills) Hunter, 100, of Peru passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025 at Blair Ridge Health Campus.

She was born in Deedsville, Indiana on October 24, 1924 to the late Leroy and Ruth (Wilson) Mills. Jeanette was a 1942 graduate of Deedsville High School.  She married J. Robert Hunter on December 29, 1951 and he preceded her in death on October 7, 1987. Jeanette formerly worked at GE in Fort Wayne and also in the office at Dukes Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Salem Christian Church. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and gardening. Her family and her church were of utmost importance to her.

Jeanette is preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings; Arlene (Joseph) Balsbaugh, Myron (Marieta) Mills, Richard (Marjorie) Mills, Leroy Jr. (Margaret) Mills.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews; Janet Warder, Joan Dagnen, Joy LaWall, Richard Hunter, Emily Rico, Cathie Royer, Myron Mills, Stanley Mills, Janice Pike, Kent Mills, Barbara Mills Lewis, Delora Clapp, Jo Ella Maugans, Marquita Tilden, Janita Beall, Crystal Jackson, many great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

Per Jeanette’s request, the memorial service and burial were private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Miami County Helping Hands, 176 N. Broadway Peru, Indiana 46970.
