Robert A. Balsbaugh Sr., 93, of Peru, passed away at 7:00am on Monday, September 7, 2020 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Peru.
He was born in New Waverly on June 23, 1927 to Henry A. and Ella F. (Bowman) Balsbaugh. He married Esther (Bowman) Balsbaugh, and she preceded him in death in 1993. Robert served in the United States Army, and later worked as a carman on the C&O Railroad. He was a member of the American Legion in Kokomo, and the Mexico Church of the Brethren.
He is survived by his children: Amy Balsbaugh (Bill Brenner) of Peru, Robert Balsbaugh Jr. (Carol) of Kokomo, and Kevin Balsbaugh (Linda) of Peru; two grandchildren, Mary Kate (Tyler) Cook and Annemarie Balsbaugh; and one great-grandchild, Clay Cook.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two brothers, Herbert (Donazetta) Balsbaugh, and Elbert (Mary Alice) Balsbaugh.
Visitation will be held from 11am – 1pm on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana. Funeral service will follow at 1pm, with Pastor J. Robert Clark officiating. Burial will take place at Ever-Rest Memorial Park in Logansport, Indiana. Military service will be provided by the Miami County Military Rites Team.
