Robert Charles Appleton, 92, of Peru, Indiana passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at his home.
He was born on October 12, 1933 in Camden, Indiana to Orlando Miles and Marie Briney (Robbins) Appleton. Robert married Marcia J. (Carpenter) on June 24, 1955 and they have shared 70 years of marriage together. He was employed at Ebert Machine Shop for eleven years while also working as a carpenter for Harold Dawalt building houses. Robert then went on to work at Delco Electronics where he was employed for thirty-two years. He was a twenty year member of the Mexico Volunteer Fire Department, where he also served as a Captain. He enjoyed attending garage sales as well as gun and knife shows. Robert and Marcia liked going for drives and watching the eagles along the river.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia, and children, Diana (Kermit) Harmon Jr. of Peru, Indiana and Robert Lee Appleton of Greentown, Indiana. Also surviving are grandchildren: Ashley (Mazhar) Khan of Whitestown, Indiana, Jeremy (Courtney) Appleton of Mexico, Indiana, Scott (Robin) Harmon of Warsaw, Indiana, Justin Harmon of Indianapolis, Indiana, and great-grandchildren: Conner and Cade Appleton.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Joe Appleton, John Appleton, Thomas Appleton, and his son’s significant other, Michelle Johnson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026 from 1:00pm-3:00pm at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana. A funeral service will follow at 3:00pm with Pastor Lorie Keck officiating. Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru.
