Rebecca Jean McWhirt, 67, Peru passed away at 12:11 a.m. on Saturday June 25th at Dukes Memorial Hospital in Peru surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on April 30, 1955 to James O. LaFerney and Anna Belle LaFerney.

She enjoyed karaoke and DJ’ing locally and was always the life of the party. She also enjoyed painting and drawing, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by 1 son, Larry Sparks, Alabama, 3 sisters, Francis Burke of Kokomo, Patsy Holmes of Peru, Sandra Slyder of Florida, 1 brother Orbrit LaFerney of Rochester, 3 grandchildren, Kylie Sparks, Kourtney Sparks, Kristian Sparks, all of Peru, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents, 1 brother, James LaFerney of Richvalley, 2 sisters, Betty Hawkins of Peru, and Linda Ness of California.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Flowers-Leedy in Peru to help cover the cost. There will be a celebration of life announced at a later date.
