Ralph E. Jeffers

Ralph E. Jeffers, 86 of Peru, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Ascension St. Vincent in Kokomo, Indiana. 

Ralph was born March 29, 1934 at home near New Lisbon, Indiana to Jason Headsman and Cordelia Worth Jeffers.  Ralph graduated from Middletown High School in 1952.  He attended Indianapolis Electronics School while working at Allison Engine Co. prior to enlisting in the Air Force in 1954 as an aviation cadet.  He attended pilot training and flew many aircraft including the B-47, B-52, and the B-58 “Hustler” which was his favorite.  Ralph married the love of his life, Phyllis Marie Fadely in 1955 who survives.   He was a decorated Vietnam War veteran and retired from the Air Force in 1974.  After retirement from the Air Force he started a cabinet business where he designed, built and installed custom kitchen cabinets and other fine furniture.  He taught woodworking and cabinet making at Ivy Tech in Kokomo for several years.  Ralph loved flying “Little Bird” his Cessna 140 and sharing his knowledge of planes and woodworking to anyone who would listen.   He also liked to tell a good story, loved ice cream and was always the optimist.

Surviving family include his children Ralph Jr (Julie) Jeffers of Plainfield, Mike (Donna) Jeffers of Poseyville, Mindy (Vance) Cole of Peru, and Andy (Regina) Jeffers of Springfield, Ohio.  He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren; Kyle (Zach) Keller of Indianapolis, Nick (Staci) Suttles of Mount Vernon, Stacia (Eric) Ahlfeld of Jasper, Andy Jeffers of Poseyville, Kaitlyn (Ryan) Darling of New Carlisle, Ohio, Kyle (Chaney) Jeffers of New Carlisle, Ohio, Cordelia (Nathan) Bowman of Peru, Keith Cole of Peru,  8 great-grandchildren and many other family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 siblings.  

Visitation will be held from 4pm-7pm on Thursday, October 29th at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W. Third Street, Peru, Indiana.  Funeral service to be held at 11:30am on Friday, October 30, 2020 at Miami United Methodist Church in Miami, IN with Pastor K.M. Lord officiating.  Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru, Indiana. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Miami United Methodist Church.
