Phyllis M. (Fadely) Jeffers

Phyllis M. Jeffers, 86 of Peru, Indiana passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Blair Ridge Health Campus in Peru Indiana. 

Phyllis was born May 1, 1935 in Henry County, Indiana to James Clifford Fadely and Ethel (Dowden) Fadely.  Phyllis graduated from Middletown High School in 1953.  Phyllis married the love of her life, Ralph E Jeffers in 1955.   Phyllis was a dedicated Air Force wife moving every few years and raising their 4 children.  She started the first Embroidery Guild in Peru and served as its first president.  She loved cross-stitching, needlepoint and sewing.  She enjoyed making and giving her art to friends and family.  Phyllis was an outstanding cook and loved cooking a big meal for family gatherings.  She enjoyed her flowers as well as watching and listening to the songbirds in the backyard.  If she knew you liked to play games, you might find yourself in a competitive round of Skip Bo or Fill or Bust.  Mostly, her children, grandchildren and great-grands were the light of her life.

Surviving family include her children Ralph Jeffers, Jr. of Plainfield, Mike (Donna) Jeffers of Poseyville, Mindy (Vance) Cole of Peru, and Andy (Regina) Jeffers of Springfield, Ohio.  She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren; Kyle Taylor of Indianapolis, Nick (Staci) Suttles of Mount Vernon, Stacia (Eric) Ahlfeld of Jasper, Andy (Amphailin) Jeffers of Poseyville, Kaitlyn (Ryan) Darling of New Carlisle, Ohio, Kyle (Chaney) Jeffers of New Carlisle, Ohio, Cordelia (Nathan) Bowman of Peru, Keith (Alyssa) Cole of Peru, 8 great-grandchildren and many other family and friends.   She was preceded in death by her parents and 4 siblings and daughter-in-law, Julie Jeffers.  

Visitation will be held from 4pm-7pm on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W. Third Street, Peru, Indiana.  Funeral service to be held at 11am on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Miami United Methodist Church in Miami, IN with Pastor K.M. Lord officiating.  Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru, Indiana.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Miami United Methodist Church.
