Philip Eugene Fultz Sr, 70, of Peru, IN, died Thursday, April 27, 2023, of lung cancer. He accepted the Lord as his savior on Saturday, April 22.
He was born on December 19, 1952 to Lee Luther Fultz and Violet McCrackin Fultz-Lewis in
Scottsdale, AZ, and spent his childhood in Mounds, OK. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, having enlisted in 1971. This brought him to Grissom Air Force Base in 1971 where he met Mary Sonafrank of Peru, IN. They wed on April 21, 1973 and had two children: Philip Fultz Jr, and Moxie Henry.
After his honorable discharge from the military, Phil worked as a skilled tradesman in maintenance for several local businesses.
His hobbies included travel, photographing birds, auto repair, 1st generation dodge diesel trucks, air shows and auto racing.
Phil is survived by his wife, Mary Fultz; son, Philip Fultz, Jr; daughter, Moxie Henry; brother, Luther Fultz; sister, Norma Jones; nieces and nephews: Logan, Teah and Sam Jones; Boomer and Debra Jones; Shellena Beals; Tamara Anderson. Brother & Sisters-in-law: Julia Beenblossom, Kay Moore, Paul Dale and Lynnann Sonafrank, Jim and Connie Sonafrank; and nieces and nephews: Julene Bowen, Richard Bowman, Tom and Kristie Bowman, Curtis and Kathy Bowman, Cathy and Craig Brown, Steve Wylam, Austin and Judy Wylam, Vonda and Brian McLarren, Tyrone and Theresa Sandwick, Heather Wright, Shelly and Mike Bradford, Joe Sonafrank III, Kelvin Moore, Rick Moore, Karen and Howard Traxmor, Wendy and Allen Bolinger, Joanna and Joe Bailey; and many many more great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Violet Fultz; and son Daniel Allen Fultz.
Visitation will be from 10am to noon, Monday, May 1, 2023, at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, IN. Funeral service will be held at noon, Monday May 1, 2023, immediately following the viewing, at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home in Peru, IN, with Tim Cowell officiating.
Memorials donations may be made to the Miami County Military Rites Team.
