Peggy Butzin Obituary

Peggy O’Neal Butzin, 79, of Peru, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2023 at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Nashville, Tennessee on November 29, 1944 to Robert Edward and Effie O’Neal (Clements) Curtis.

Peggy had a love for football. Her two favorite teams were the Indianapolis Colts and the Tennessee Titans. When they played each other, she always rooted for Tennessee. Peggy was also an avid NASCAR fan.

Peggy enjoyed cooking and baking. At the holidays, she was found in the kitchen baking cakes and pies. She always enjoyed making dinner for her family on special occasions. She loved to share her recipes with her daughters and her grandchildren. Peggy loved having visits with her family. She loved her family very much and would do anything she could for them. She never asked for anything in return. Our Matriarch will be missed terribly by us all.

She is survived by her daughters; Cynthia “Cindy” (Brent) Ewer, Dawn Hooker, and Kimberly (Mike) Stuber, all of Peru, eight grandchildren; Jeffery (Briana) Morehead, Samantha (Julio) Ramirez, Dakota (Chelsey) Childers, Dalton (Kristina) Childers, Dylan (Abby) Childers, Jaci Stuber, Abigail (AJ) Wilhite, Sidney (Jake) Ooten, all of Peru, ten great grandchildren; Ashton Morehead, Cohle Morehead, Arthur Morehead, Brooklyn Riggle, Jaxon Ramirez, Israel Ramirez, Alexander Childers, Peyton Childers, Oaklynn Ooten, and Daxton Ooten, brother, Tim (Doris) Curtis of Alabama, sisters; Elizabeth (James) Foreman of Michigan, Linda Cleaver of Peru, and sister-in-law, Carol Curtis of Indianapolis.

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Randy Curtis, and brother-in-law, Mike Cleaver.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
