Norma Jean “Mama” Potter, 88, of Peru passed away at her home on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 with her family by her side.
She was born on October 6, 1937 in Peru, Indiana to James and Ruth (Bowman) Patterson. Norma, who was more affectionately known as, “Mama”, married Ronald Potter on February 29, 1976.
Mama was retired from United Technologies as a factory worker. She enjoyed camping, going to the casino to gamble, and watching the Indianapolis Colts play football. She also enjoyed watching the Indiana Fever. Mama liked planting flowers and watching her shows on the sci-fi channel.
She is survived by her husband, Ron, and her daughter, Debra Rusert of Peru. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and her adopted daughter, Ruth Patton, of Peru.
Mama was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Edward Rusert.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 11:00am-1:00pm at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana. Funeral services will begin at 1:00pm with Pastor Phil Cruea officiating. Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru.
