Nancy Newcom Obituary

Nancy Ann Newcom (Hedrick), 81, a resident of Peru, Indiana, passed away peacefully in her home on January 21, 2026.

Nancy was born on August 31, 1944, in Peru to Glen F. Hedrick and Beatrice Irene Hedrick. A graduate of Peru High School, she went on to build a long and dedicated career with General Motors (Delco) in Kokomo, where she remained until her well-earned retirement.

Nancy was perhaps best known for her infectious laughter. It was a signature trait that rarely failed to light up a room, often sparking a chain reaction of joy among everyone in her presence. She found great contentment in the simple pleasures of life: losing herself in a gripping mystery novel, tackling the daily crossword puzzle, or cheering for her numbers in the lottery. A fan of tradition and storytelling, she spent many quiet afternoons enjoying her favorite western and cowboy shows.

Above all, Nancy cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. Her warmth and humor will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Nancy is survived by her child, Parrish Newcom, and her grandchild, Danielle Williamson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen F. Hedrick Sr. and Beatrice Irene Hedrick, as well as her siblings: Arthur Reavis, Frank Reavis, Richard “Dick” Hedrick, Glen Hedrick Jr., and Alvin Hedrick.

At this time, no formal services will be held. The family will reach out to relatives and friends at a later date to share details regarding a memorial gathering.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.FlowersLeedyAllen.com.
