Nancy Sue (Hendricks) Maggard, 82, of Peru, passed away at her home on Thursday, April 20, 2023.
She was born in Kokomo, Indiana on March 28, 1941 to the late Runa and Mildred (Bockover) Hendricks. She was a 1959 graduate of Peru High School. Nancy married her sweetheart, Raymond Maggard, on October 11, 1959 in the family room of her parents’ home. After their wedding, Nancy and Ray drove their 1953 Ford convertible to Yuma, Arizona because Ray joined the Marine Corps.
Nancy and Ray returned with their first-born daughter to Peru, Indiana after a few years where they settled down, had their youngest daughter, and owned a few businesses together. She was a past president and member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority. She was a member of the Church of Christ at Grissom. She was also an avid bowler and was on a bowling league. Nancy enjoyed singing, dancing, sewing, socializing, dress shopping, and putting a smile on people’s faces. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Raymond Maggard, daughter, Christina (Maggard) Kreutzer. Brother, Richard (Beth) Hendricks. Sister-in-law, Marjorie Fiedler. Her grandchildren Karlee (Alex) Wolf, Victoria Kreutzer, Chelsea (Mitch) Howard, and Alexa Singletary. One great-grandchild, Axel Wolf, many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and of course her beloved dog, Buffy.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Cathy Mohr, and daughter, Debra (Maggard) Singletary.
Visitation will be held at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Terry Carter officiating. Internment will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru, Indiana.
