Mr. Kitters

Mr. Kitters also known as, “Charlie,” passed away peacefully in his sleep early Monday morning, July 20, 2026.

He came to us as a young stray in September of 2023. What started out as making friends with a stray cat quickly turned in to the best four-legged pal we could ever ask for. We always joked that he made himself right at home by walking in the door on the very first day. He was determined that he was home. Throughout his short years with us, he became quite well known in the community for his sweet and friendly demeanor. His personality greatly helped people navigate grief with a touch of comfort and some purring.

He loved to watch birds and bunnies and spend the afternoons outside in the sun. Mr. Kitters was very protective and didn’t let any other cats near the property line. One of his favorite activities was “working the door” during visitations where he either sat in the chair by the front door or laid on the porch outside. He also did quite a bit of “office work” which consisted of laying across the keyboard on the desk and knocking off anything and everything that stood in his way.

Mr. Kitters made friends with the mailman, several dogs on the block, casket salesmen, and also families whose lives were touched by him during their time spent at the funeral home.

For being a cat, with no training whatsoever, he always seemed to know just what to do to provide a laugh, smile, or even just a slight bit of comfort in a time when it was needed most. We believe he most certainly knew and understood the gravity of his “job” and how fortunate are we that he chose us?

He was the best boy there was and ever will be – the perfect fit into our family. The funeral home will never be the same without hearing the bell on his collar as he ran down the hall to greet us at the door every morning.

Mr. Kitters will be missed wholeheartedly by the entire staff of Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home. Though he loved everyone, he shared the most special bond with Gracie. He never let her too far out of his sight - wherever she went he wasn’t far behind.

No matter how long we have them, it’s never long enough. Our hearts ache in his absence.
