Mildred Hendricks Obituary

Mildred Rosanna Hendricks, 92, of Peru, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 12:45 p.m. She made her final journey to Heaven with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren surrounding her. Mildred was born on November 20, 1921 in Peru, Indiana, to the late Walter R. and Tressa B. Miller Bockover. She was one of nine children, all of whom are deceased. She graduated from Deedsville, Indiana, at the top of her class. On September 14, 1940, she married Runa R. Hendricks, the very love of her life. They were married in Kokomo, Indiana by the late Reverand E. A. Davis, and they fully enjoyed 51 years of marriage until his passing in 1991. Mildred (Millie) worked at Square D in Peru, Indiana, in the front office of the Shipping Department, until her retirement. After retirement, she and her husband spent a lot of years traveling, camping, visiting all their children, and thoroughly enjoying life. Millie most cherished being with her family, camping, traveling, working crosswords, sewing, and attending the First Church of Christ, where she was a member all her life. Her favorite place on Earth was their lake-front property, where a lot of family memories took place. Mildred is survived by three children; Nancy S. (Raymond) Maggard, Peru, In., Richard L. Hendricks, Peru, in., and Cathy A. (Robert) Mohr of Denver, In. She has (10) grandchildren, Christina D. Kreutzer, Peru, Debra J. Singletary, Peru, Richard L. (Lila) Hendricks, Jr., Monticello, NY, Lori J. Lamachione, Yorktown, In., SGT. Jeffery S. (Cara) Hendricks, Clarksville, TN, Bradley J. (Karen) Hendricks, Chalmers, In, CPO Robert R. (Sheryll) Mohr, San Diego, CA, Alycia D. (Jim) Roberts, Peru, Natalie A.N. (Steve) Monesmith, Adron, In, and Daniel R. Mohr, Fort Wayne, In.; (21) great-grandchildren, (3) great-great-grandchildren, and (2) great-grandchildren expected this summer. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives, whom she enjoyed visiting with at the annual Bockover reunion. Her special close friends were Pauline Fetter, Booneville, Indiana, and Gertrud Thurston, Peru, Indiana. Memorial services will be held at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, in Peru, Indiana, with Raymond Maggard and Shane Capps officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 and services will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., with burial services following at the Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel in Peru, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of Christ, 2584 So. Business 31, Peru, Indiana. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.
