Michael "Mike" Forest Michael

Michael Forest Michael, 87, of Bunker Hill, passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday, May 15th, 2025, at Mishawaka’s Center for Hospice Care.

Mike was born April 10th, 1938, in Peru, Indiana, to Everett Walter Michael and Mabel Irene Michael. On January 10, 1981, Mike married Nancy Plaughe.

Mike served our country in the Army for seven years before he decided to pursue his career as an electrician with Eli Lilly. Mike worked for Eli Lilly from 1963 utill he retired in 1993. He loved IU basketball, working outside, taking care of his animals, and spending quality time with friends and family. It didn’t matter where he was or what he was doing, Mike would always take the time to talk to anyone. Granted, he was usually ornery and loved to give a hard time to any and everyone willing to take it. He still loved to try and make you smile, OR want to fight. One thing is, he was always remembered and respected for being truly himself. Mike loved his church, family, and neighbors. He was a member of the 1st Baptist church of Bunker Hill, where he refused to miss a Sunday service.

He was a loving brother, husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition, he is survived by his siblings: Buzz Michael, Suzie Finster, and Tim Michael. As well as his grandchildren: Andrew Finister, Jackson Finister, and Nicholas Finister.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and daughter Nancy.

Funeral services will be held by Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home and Pastor Richard Olson at Rankin Cemetery, Peru, IN 46970, on Thursday, May 22nd, 2025, at 2 pm.
