Mary Trook Obituary

Mary Trook, 92, of Peru passed away on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020 at her home of more than 74 years on West Third Street.

She was born in Patterson, Georgia to the late Robert L and Kate (Davis) Walker on November 17, 1927.  She married George “Pat” Trook on August 20, 1946.  Pat preceded her in death on November 11, 2009.   Mary was a member of New Home Primitive Baptist Church in Offerman, Georgia.  Mary was a homemaker and a very good cook.   Everyone looked forward to going to Mary’s house because they knew there would be a lot of good food… especially her fried chicken.

She is survived by her daughters Patricia Bigler of Port St. Lucie, Florida and Kim Trook of Peru, son-In-Law Phil Taylor of Peru, grandchildren, Ted Danielsen of Bloomington, Carrie Danielsen and Robbie Selleck (Jason) of Peru and Kari Lovellette-Blue (Zach) of Kokomo.  Also, ten great-grandchildren Andrew Wray (Beth), Ashleigh Roberts, Alex Selleck, Jacob Loftus, Nicholas Loftus, Evan Loftus, Thorin Danielsen, Odin Danielsen, Christian Danielsen and Chloe Blue.  She is also survived by sisters Wanda Gill, Betty Driggers, Lois Foster, Doris Roberson, Joyce Chancey and Evelyn Taylor, all of Georgia.  She was preceded in death by her daughter Linda Taylor of Peru, brothers Lamar Walker, Claude Walker, Clyde Walker, Frank Walker, TC Walker, Lewis Walker and Cecil Walker and sisters Juanita Cox, Sarah Shafer and Bertie Walker and Stepmother Maude Walker.

To quote her nephew Johnny Trook of Huntington, “Everyone should have an Aunt Mary! She was a good wife, good mother, loved people, always giving or doing something for someone.  Great sense of humor and attitude.”  “Mary quietly lived God’s command ‘love one another as I have loved you’… that was Aunt Mary… she blessed us all in her quiet way… she was a remarkable person!”

Mary lived a good, long life and will be missed by many.  There will be no service at this time.
