Marilyn Floyd Obituary

Marilyn Sue Floyd

December 23, 1936 to May 6, 2025

Marilyn Floyd, 88, passed away peacefully just after midnight on May 6th 2025. She was born on December 23, 1936 in Brazil, Indiana to Minter and Thelma McGuire. Marilyn married the love of her life Donald Floyd on August 10, 1952. They had 2 beautiful children, Donald Jr and Sherry Ann. Together they shared 62 wonderful years of marriage before his unexpected passing in 2015.

Marilyn had a spark that lit up every room she entered. Her sassiness was part of her charm—bold, funny, and unforgettable. She had a sweet tooth for life, and for Hershey’s Kisses, which she always kept close by. Shopping was one of her greatest joys, and no one knew that better than her granddaughter Ashley, who was often lovingly taken along for day-long adventures down every aisle.

She was deeply committed to her work at the BX on the Grissom Air Force Base, where she built lasting friendships and made a true impact. When she left, her team was genuinely saddened—they didn’t just lose a coworker, they lost a dear friend. Retirement brought a new chapter of adventure. Marilyn and her beloved husband Don didn’t slow down—they embraced life on the road, eventually traveling in an RV and finding beauty in every mile. She fell in love with the sunshine of Florida and the rugged, peaceful terrain of Arkansas.

But more than anything, Marilyn loved her family. She was always there when we needed her—with strength, grace, and endless love. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her world, and she treasured every opportunity to spoil them.

Marilyn is survived by her sister Nancy (Buzz) Hull of Brazil, IN, 3 grandchildren Scott Floyd (James Willett) of Bossier City, LA, Kelly Floyd of Sammamish, WA, and Ashley (Ryan) Pettit of Kokomo, IN and 6 great grandchildren Jackson, Audrey, John Anthony, Aeden, Drake and Kennedy.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Bonnie, brother Ronnie, husband Donald, her 2 children Donald Jr and Sherry Ann, and great grandchild Cameron Langston.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Waterford Health Campus and the Legacy unit in Kokomo for their exceptional love and care of Marilyn during her stay there.
