Lynnville Waldo Bliss Jr. was born in Buffalo, Indiana on May 27, 1927.
He was the son of Lynnville Waldo Bliss Sr. and Inez Shell Bliss. They preceded him in death. He graduated from Buffalo High School in 1945. He won a scholarship to play basketball at Purdue, but Uncle Sam drafted him into the Army. He was married to Joan Reed Bliss on October 6, 1947 until May, 1958. He married Flossie Schroder in May, 1958. She preceded him in death on January 17, 1997.
He lived in Indiana until 1967 when he moved to Union City, Michigan, where he lived for 40 years. While in Michigan, he owned his own carpet and flooring business, where he taught his grandson the trade. His love of camping had led him to Michigan, where he and several family members and friends helped build his house on the lake, where the grandkids had many wonderful memories.
Besides camping, he loved fishing and playing euchre, which he taught his kids and grandkids. But most of all, he loved being around his family and friends. He was well known for his jokes and being ornery. He never knew a stranger.
He is survived by his 5 children: Cheryl Seymour (Larry) of London, Ohio, Barb Hunt of Peru, Mike Ruede (Anne) of Circleville, Ohio, Pam Hileman of Peru, and Peggy Mabie (Butch) of Elkhart. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, who had the greatest respect for him. He also had 24 great-grandkids, and 16 great-great-grandkids. Also surviving are 2 sisters, Roberta Burgess of North Augusta, South Carolina, and Judy Osborn of Logansport.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 2 brothers: Wanda Hurlburt of Coldwater, Michigan, Rosie Spencer of Lucerne, Jerry Osborn of Burlington, and Billy Jones, Michigan.
He will be greatly missed by many. He touched many lives in his 93 years.
Dad said, “Finally all her windows fell out!”
