Linda E. (Shilling) Conner

Linda E. Conner, 85, of Oxford, Indiana, passed away peacefully in her sleep early Wednesday morning September 10, 2025.

She was born on August 27, 1940 in Peru, Indiana to the late Martha (Austin) & Charles Shilling, Sr.  She married the love of her life, Bert Conner, on September 13, 1958, and he survives.

Linda was a lady of many gifts & talents. She and Bert owned & operated “Bert’s Garage” in Chili, Indiana for many years. Later on they owned & operated a tractor/trailer business. When they moved to Oxford, she retired and then dedicated her life to her grandchildren & family. Linda was always the chef & baker, everyone had their favorite meal that she created. She was the shining example for her faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ as she led many souls to the Lord. Linda loved to sing praises to her Lord & Savior. She was a devout member of the Peru Church of God, N/E Church of God in Marion, and the United Methodist of Oxford.

In addition to her husband Bert, other survivors include their daughters Cindy (Conner), Ron Raber of Lafayette, Indiana and Betsy (Conner), Joe Norfleet of Oxford, Indiana. A brother, Ralph Shilling of Dyer, Indiana, grandchildren: Allyssa (Raber) Scott Hensley, Jayden & Trevor Shuman, and four great grandchildren: Evander (Evan), Sammy, Alden & Sarah (Kati Bug) Hensley.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, an angel grandson, Austen Shuman, sister & brothers-in-law: Marty & Dean Correll, Gin & Alvin Hedrick Sr. and brother & sisters-in-law: Chuck & Marilynn Shilling Jr. and Judy Shilling.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 11:00am-12:00pm at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana. Funeral services will follow at 12:00pm with Pastor Darrell Smith officiating. Burial will take place at Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery in Logansport, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
