Larry Allen Harts, May 12, 1942 – December 11, 2022.
Mr. Larry Harts, 80, of 2173 E 1000 S Bunker Hill, passed away peacefully in his sleep at 9:40pm Sunday surrounded by his loving children, in his home.
Born in Peru on May 12, 1942, Larry was the son of Richard & Marilyn Jenkins Harts. As one of two children, he shared his childhood growing up on the farm with his sister, Ellen Sue. Larry graduated from Clay Township High School, where he played basketball during his high school years.
During his youth he was the Grand Champion Tomato Grower of the State of Indiana. He was a lifetime racing enthusiast which started at Bunker Hill Drag strip. The love of racing culminated into becoming a member of the SCCA, Sports Car Club of America, where he was two-time National Champion. Much like his father, he loved spending time outdoors mushroom hunting.
His career path led him to Miami, Florida to work for Eastern Airlines, which eventually took him to work abroad for Saudi Air. All-the-while allowing him to travel extensively around the globe, in pursuit of unique experiences that gave him the opportunity to document them with his love of photography.
Larry is lovingly remembered by his Sweetheart, of 26 years, Becky Call of Peru. His twins, Robyn Macy of Kokomo and Roger Harts & Fiancée Lauren Corcoran of Bunker Hill. His Grandchildren, Miles Macy & Fiancée Zoso Ross of Reseda, CA. Molly Macy of Tampa, FL. Hunter Harts & Louree’ Johnston of Noblesville. Haley Harts & Fiancé’ Conner Faulkner of Carmel. His one Precious Great-Grand daughter, Holiday Marie Macy of San Jose, CA. He is preceded in death by his youngest Son, Evan. His Parents, Richard & Marilyn and his sister & brother-in-law, Ellen Sue & Doug Scott.
A celebration of life will be Monday, December 19th at Flowers-Leedy/Allen Funeral Home, 105 W Third Street, Peru. Friends may visit with the family from 11-1, with the service immediately following, with Mr. Dennis Harts officiating. A private family scattering of Larry’s ashes will take place on the family farm at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Miami County TNR rescue in memory of Larry as he loved to work with them, alongside Miss Becky.
