Larry Coleman, 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 6th, 2021 at Dukes Memorial Hospital.
He was born on September 6, 1938 in Bunker Hill to Roy M Coleman and Freda Prather Coleman. Larry married the mother of his daughters, Wanda Burgan Coleman, on September 26, 1960. He then married Debbie Truax Coleman on December 29, 1981 and became step-father to two boys. Debbie preceded him in death on August, 27, 2000.
Larry was a lifelong mechanic and worked for Super 98, Richter & Keirn, Tom Shepherd Oldsmobile, and retired from Paul Richard Chevrolet. He also served in the Army from December 1961 to November 1963 while stationed in Germany. His greatest passion was living on and farming the land he and his sister grew up on in Bunker Hill, Indiana. He also enjoyed visiting with his “first cousins lunch group” that included: Vicki Brown, Sierra Martin, Dewayne Prather and Bob and Linda McKinley.
Larry is survived by: daughters Christy Donathan and husband Joey, Kimberly Sommers and husband Mitch, step-sons Darin Truax and wife Stephanie, Dale Truax and wife Faith, grandchildren Joshua Donathan (Lea Ingle), Lisa Donathan (Kevin Nystrom), Kayla Donathan Ehmen and husband Brett, Michael Sommers and wife Kayan, Kirstyn Sommers (Brent Yard), Dylan, Teryn, Penelope Truax and Delaney and Tristan Truax. Larry is also survived by 8 great grandchildren with number 9 due in February 2022. His sister, Sandra Retz, nephew Alan Retz and wife Missy and family also survive from Columbus, Indiana.
Along with wife Debbie, he was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Dan Retz, nephew Terry Retz and first wife, Wanda Coleman.
Honoring Larry’s wishes, his family will have a private service celebrating his life.
