June 8, 1962 – March 4, 2026

Krystal Karol (Leffler/Shaffer) Smith, 63, -Princess of Peru- passed away peacefully, with her daughters by her side, on March 4, 2026, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.
Krystal is survived by her two daughters: Amber(Kevin) Hall and Karlee(Tanner) Steele; three sons Matt(Suzan) Smith, Chad(Angie) Smith, and Corey(Kristy) Smith; fourteen beautiful grandkids Jaccob, Kaycen, James, Bentlee, Wyatt, Charlie, Kolson, Baylee, Faith, Destiny, Spence, Patrick, Gabby, and Cameron; one great granddaughter Emmy; two brothers Dennis(Lynn) Leffler and Thomas(Helen) Leffler and sister Lynda Leffler; several nieces and nephews; and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband James “Don” Smith, parents Don Leffler/ Linda Edwards, and her niece Michelle Saunders.
Krystal was born in Peru Indiana, on June 8, 1962, at Dukes Memorial Hospital. She went on to attend Fort Wayne International Business College and University of Evansville. She then went on to have a very successful career in sales.
In addition to her family, she had the best of times with her close friends, Holly Forbes. Debra Conger, Debbie Saylor, Tally Ennen, & Laura Sullivan.
Krystal was a devote Christian who lived life to the fullest. There was never a room she didn’t light up, or a person whom she met that wasn’t considered family. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, playing darts/cards, volunteering, and praising Jesus. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family, especially her girls and grandkids. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all that knew her.
Viewing and services will be held at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home located at 105 West Third Street Peru, IN 46970 on Thursday, March 12th from 2:00-4:00PM. A memorial dinner will follow at The Eagles located at 56 N. Grant Street Peru, IN 46970.
