Kenneth Easterday Obituary

Kenneth (Kenny) Easterday, 86, of Peru, Indiana was peacefully called home by The Lord on Saturday, December 12, 2020 due to illness. 

He is preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Patricia (Lauffer) Easterday; son, Michael Hermanowski; sisters Shirley Emery and Peggy Keltner, and niece Terry Gale Johnson.

He will be deeply missed by his daughter Angel (Randy) Schuch of Lowell MI; daughter Shirley (Fred) Bergey of Boca Raton FL; nephew John (Lois) Mongosa of Peru IN; niece Jo Estes of Logansport IN; daughter-in-law Rose Hermanowski of Phoenix AZ; and many grandchildren/ great grandchildren.

Kenny was born on January 4, 1934 to Joseph and Gail (Lavoncher) Easterday in Peru, IN. He was a proud member of the Miami Nation of Indians. He was honored to have served as a firefighter in the U.S. Air Force (Korean War - 824th INSTLNON SAC). He retired from CSX Transportation, Grand Rapids, MI as a Locomotive Diesel Mechanic most of his 40 years of service. He was a member of the Peru VFW Post 2067 and the American Legion Posts 705/0014.

He embraced helping others in need, fishing, classic country music, western movies, and was a huge Notre Dame football fan. Earlier in life he was an avid bowler, had a passion for cooking, and enjoyed maintaining beautiful rose gardens for his lovely wife.
