Judy Marie Daugherty, 70, of Miami County, passed away at 4:30am on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Howard Community Hospital in Kokomo.
She was born in Kokomo on November 16, 1950 to the late Ralph and Frances Rayls. She was united in marriage to Kevin F. Daugherty on October 9, 1971 at the Bunker Hill Air Force Base chapel. She was a career Air Force wife of 23 years, then did many years as a certified nurse’s aid (CNA). She raised three most wonderful children: daughter Melinda, who married Andrew Bird, and together they had three children, Hope, Charity, and Nehemiah; second daughter Bonnie Sue, who married Don Bales, and they had four children: Faith, Franklin, Ellie, and Ivan; then son Francis, who married Paula, and they had a daughter Emmeline, and a son Sullivan.
Judy also had four sisters and two brothers: Theresa Mohler and husband Larry (deceased) of Kokomo, Sharon and husband Mardie Loshnowsky of Peru, Carolyn and husband Lowell Maxwell of Peru, deceased brother and first wife Ralph and Pam Rayls and surviving second wife Marie, brother Tom and Debbie Rayls of Burlington, and also surviving is youngest sister Joni who married Jim Davenport of Peru. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Judy loved her church, loved her family, and adored her grandkids. She was truly a remarkable wife and mother, who knew how to keep the peace and keep it straight. It was a hard job, and she did it remarkably well.
A service celebrating the life of Judy Marie Daugherty will be held from 11am to 1pm on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Zion Chapel Church in Peru, with Pastor Rod Correll officiating. Burial will be at Springdale Cemetery in Bunker Hill.
