Judith “Judy” Michalek

Judith Anne (Cassel) Michalek, 77, of Peru, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

Judy was born on January 24, 1948, in Peru, Indiana to John C. and Helen L. Cassel. She married Edward C. Michalek on April 12, 1969.

Judy graduated from Peru High School in 1966 and attended Ball State University. She enjoyed her career as a bank loan officer at American Trust Federal Savings Bank, retiring in 2010 after 32 years of service. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.

Judy is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ed; two sons, Chad (Nikki) Michalek of Greenfield and Adam (Elise) Michalek of Fort Wayne; and four grandchildren, CJ, Alexander, Maxwell, and Arden.

She is also survived by her brother, Stephen E. (Susan) Cassel of Peru, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John Michael Cassel and Dennis E. Cassel.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 from 10am to noon, at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana. A Celebration of Life service will be held at noon, with burial immediately following at Mount Hope Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
