Joyce Ryder Obituary

Joyce Margaretine Ryder, 89 of Peru passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022. 

She was born in Macon, Georgia March 11, 1933. She graduated from Ballard Hudson High School in 1951. Joyce married the love of her life Marvin Ryder on August 3, 1956 in Baltimore, Maryland.

With that union they had five children: Randy of Aurora IL; Gwendolyn Ryder of Indianapolis IN; Ronald Ryder(Kara) of Aurora, IL; Regina Ryder of Rockville, MD; and Reginald Ryder (Kim) of Ashburn,VA. Joyce is survived by six grandchildren: Keenna (Lamont) Holmes, Jason Ryder, Andria Ryder, Kristina Ryder, Taylor Ryder and Reginald Ryder II and six great-grandchildren: Janaezjah Ryder, Ciara Jones, Avery Murphy, Skye Murphy, Kamryn Murphy (deceased) and Zara Holmes, and a host of nieces and nephews. 

Joyce was a devoted military wife and worked at Grissom Air Force Base in food services for 15 years.  She was a faithful member of Mount Hermon Missionary Baptist Church and served on the senior missionary board. Joyce was an avid sports fan and an excellent cook.  Joyce was loved and adored by her family and will be truly missed.

The services will be held at Mount Hermon Missionary Baptist Church, 451 West Second Street, Peru, Indiana on Saturday, August 20, 2022. Visitation will be held from 11:00am- 1:00pm and the funeral service will follow at 1:00pm.
