Joyce Ann (Crawford) Kellems, 80, of Peru passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023, Woodlawn Hospital.
She was born on February 8, 1943 in Peru, Indiana to Jessie Dale Crawford and Luciel Bowman Crawford of Amboy and is preceded in death. She married Eric Allman in 2001 and is preceded in death.
Joyce was married at 16 and had 3 boys by the time she was 19. She worked hard her whole life and always looked for ways to have a good time and make others laugh. You never knew what was going to come out of her mouth next! She loved to garden, plant flowers, cooking for armies of people, finding good deals, she always repurposed trash into treasures! If you ever wanted to do crafts and not spend a dime, Joyce was your go to! Like most she loved spending time with her family, however what’s unique about Joyce is she left a lasting impression in whatever she did and really invested in creating memories for her family.
Joyce worked for the Peru High School for 27 years driving bus and as a custodian, bringing lots of laughs to everyone and creating lasting memories, for sure, in the lives of those she touched, everything from the tools she carried in her bra to the blue light special cleaning cart (smut patrol), yelling random things down the hall, making coffee for the teachers and pep talks for the wrestling season, she took pride in what she did and loved every minute of her career there.
Joyce is survived by her children; Brent Gochenour of Macy, Tim Gochenour of Macy (Meana), (Linda Gochenour) Michelle Roche (Don), Mike Allman (Lisa), Mark Allman, Erica Allman, John Allman (Alicia), Ruth Allman (Karen), 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and sister, Kathy Ilff.
She is preceded in death by husbands, Russell Gochenour, Garry Kellems, and Eric Allman, son, Rusty Gochenour, and sister, Vickie Townsend.
A celebration of life will be held at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru on Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 1pm to 3pm. The funeral service will follow at 3pm with Pastor Mark Elliott officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.FlowersLeedyAllen.com.
