John F. Yentes, better known as "Johnny Y," passed to his eternal rest on Dec. 2, 2013, at his residence. He was born May 2, 1952, in Peru to Lester L Yentes and Daisy "Louise" Johnson-Berg. John served in the U.S. Navy and was retired from Square D. He enjoyed watching movies, hunting and fishing and was an avid mushroom hunter. John was a great cook and quite the jokester. He enjoyed spending time with his dear friends playing cards. John previously loved riding his Harley Davidson. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. John leaves behind two loving children, son Jason (Stephanie) Yentes and daughter Jamie Yentes, both of Peru; two sisters, Linda (John) Rodgers and Beverly (Jerry) Mallow, both of Peru; a brother, William (Marita) Yentes of Kingston, Okla.; two grandchildren, Noah Yentes and Kelsey Zimmerman of Peru; and several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Louise, as well as a special stepfather, Donald Berg. John will be greatly missed as he touched' the lives of many with his unconditional love and kindness. Visitation will be 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home, 105 W. Third Street, Peru. John will be laid to rest at the Mount Hope Cemetery. There will be a military committal service provided by the Miami County Military Rites Team.
