John Eric Schleiffer

John Eric Schleiffer, 80, of Peru, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Dukes Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Manhattan, New York on August 25, 1945 to Johann and Martha (Schmidt) Schleiffer. John married Esperanza (Dragon) Tolentino on December 4, 2001.

John served in the United States Army and was also retired from the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant. In his younger years, he traveled quite a bit. John worked for ten years at the Juvenile Detention Center in Chicago, Illinois. He was a member of the Gothenburg Wind Quartet in Sweden and served as Arch Bishop of International Conference of Philippine Independent Catholic Church of Jesus Christ (ICPICCJC).

He is survived by his wife, Esperanza, sons, Angel Schleiffer and Luis Schleiffer, and step-children:  Marlene (Ruben) Tomacruz,  Ferdie (Nes) Tolentino, Zaldy (Gaye) Tolentino, and Joy (Kenneth) Go. Also surviving are step-grandchildren: Nikki, Trixie, Belle, Carlos, Bea, Lance, and Sam.

John was preceded in death by his parents.
