John K. Ryan, the son of John T. and V. Joan Ryan passed away unexpectedly from a cardiac event at his home on Thursday, May 27, 2021.
John was born November 30, 1952 and was a 1971 graduate of Peru High School. Being raised in Peru it was natural that he spent many years performing, rigging and training for the Circus City Festival. The time in the Circus led him on some great adventures like working center ring at Madison Square Gardens and traveling by train with the Ringling Brothers Circus, this fueled his spirit to travel the country and experience life. John was a sky diver, did some scuba diving, spent time on a shrimp boat, camped in the wilderness and thumbed his way across the country. Upon returning to Peru, he was active in softball, bowling and continued his love of the Circus by giving his time and patience to many young performers at the C.C.F.I. and the YMCA. John was a gifted EMT, he spent several years working at the Central Cigar Store, the County Highway department and at Bryan Boilers. John was a true Cleveland Browns fan thru thick and thin. He loved family dinners; though not a cook, he was easily convinced to do the cleanup. He spent his retirement years in Arizona where he owned a landscaping business and continued to play pool with the “guys”, he always said he did not miss the Indiana winters.
John is survived by his father John T., sisters Susie (Richard) Taylor, Jerri (Larry) Stapleton, his nieces and nephews, Sarah (Alex) Kritzman, Darcey (Nolan) Hazlett, Amy Taylor, Ryan (Kerianne)Taylor, Elizabeth Taylor, Nathan Taylor and Dustin Clark. Along with his Uncle Frank (Jenny) Pearson, and multiple great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his only child Jack Robert Ryan, his mother Joan, sister Linda and his nephew Richard W. Taylor. A graveside service will be held for the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Circus City Festival building fund.
