John Madden Sr. Obituary

John R. Madden Sr., 67, of Peru passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026 at Parkview Huntington Memorial Hospital.

He was born in London, Kentucky on January 6, 1959 to Wilmer and Edith (Joseph) Madden. John married Barb Madden in 1990 and she preceded him in death in 2021.

He started working as a truck driver in 1987 and worked for over 35 years driving truck. John was a huge cat lover and probably rescued several hundred over the course of his life. He enjoyed traveling the state with his family and seeking out the perfect project cars. John found several cars that he enjoyed buying and selling. The most important thing in John’s life was his faith and love of Jesus Christ. He was a faithful member of the Peru Church of the Brethren. Anyone who knew John knows just how much of a kind and gentle person he was. He will be truly missed.

John is survived by his son, John “Randal" Madden Jr. and Cindy Madden, Step- Daughter, Michelle Madden Hughes, grandchildren, Daniel Madden, Pierce Madden, great-grandson, Basil Madden, brother, Stan Madden, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings, Brenda Shanabarger, Doug Madden, and Michael Madden.
