Jerry E. Cress

Jerry E. Cress, 81, of Peru passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.

He was born in Peru on November 2, 1943 to the late Cecil B. and Isa B. (See) Cress. Jerry graduated from Peru High School in 1961. He joined the National Guard and proudly served from 1964-1965. Jerry started working at Chrysler in 1962 and retired in 2000 after 38 years. He enjoyed 25 years of retirement.

Jerry loved to golf and watch sports. He was on the Moose travel bowling league and coached basketball at Central School from 1984-1988. Jerry also looked forward to going to Vegas with his buddies once a year.

He is survived by his two children, Bryan (Dandrea) Cress, Jeffery (Andrea) Cress, three grandchildren, Levi Gibson, Ashlan Stone, Kayla (Jason) Smith, four great grandchildren, Navaeh Gilland, Raelynn Gilland, Arizona Johnson, Leo Strother, and two sisters, Joyce Degunya and Susie Snyder.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jim Cress, Bud Cress, and John “Jo” Cress.

A celebration of life and burial at Marion National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
