Jeanne Ewing Obituary

Jeanne Ann Ewing, 73, Passed away Thursday, October 10th, 2013 at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne. Jeanne Ann was born in Tipton County to Burgess William and Maxine Pontius, who preceeded her in death. Jeanne Arm graduated from Peru High School in 1959. On June 29th, 1963 she married Robert (Bob) P. Ewing Jr. who proceeded her in death in 2004. She retired from the YMCA in 2010 after 30 years of service. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Peru. She had a love of crocheting, cooking and reading her Bible with great faith. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and her granddog, Bella. She rarely missed the dinners at Homer's with her fellow classmates. Jeanne Ann was truly an amazing woman having survived breast cancer, two brain surgeries, and was on kidney dialysis for the last four years. She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis (Steve) Hershey of Lima, Ohio. Two sons, Robert (Rob) P. Ewing III, Steven (Jessie) Ewing, and inherited son Mark Henry, all of Peru. Also surviving are five granddaughters, Ashley, Lindsay, Brooke, and Heidi of Lima, Ohio, and Sydney of Peru. Seven grandsons, Matt, Chad and Dave of Lima, Ohio, Jakob and Mason of Peru, Nicholas and Cameron of Wabash, In. Five great grandchildren, Taylor, Mackenzie, Jaxson, Haliegh and Luke, all of Lima Ohio. Jeanne Ann has two surviving brothers, John Robert (Alice) Pontius, Ft. Wayne, and James (Roberta) Pontius, Peru. She has one brother, Charles William who is deceased. Two sisters Carol Sue (Henry) Halley of Peru, and Mary Jane (Earl) Decker of New Haven also survive. Sister Colletta Jo (Emil) Nelson is deceased. Sister in law Sue (Dick) Kichline of Dana Point, CA also survives. Visitation for Jeanne Ann Ewing will be held Tuesday, October 15th at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home from 2-8. Funeral will be held Wednesday, October 16th at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
