Janet Sue Snider, 82, passed away peacefully at Miller’s Merry Manor in Peru on Saturday, November 6, 2021 surrounded by her family.
Janet was born on November 15, 1938 to Elton and Annabelle (Gibbs) Bowman. She eventually married the love of her life, Martin Snider, and he precedes her in death.
A lifelong resident of Peru, Indiana, Janet began her career working at Tally Ho , Fox & Hound and the Jockey Club. Later Janet held many supervisory positions, including Eck Adams, Maibens Laundry, Kofabco, Dukes Hospital, and even Miller’s Merry Manor. She was also the owner of Jan’s Place in Peru. She was loved for her great sense of humor. Janet enjoyed collecting antiques with her husband and spending time with her family and grandchildren. In addition to her husband and family, music was another source of joy for Janet. She loved to sing, she loved to dance, and she loved to just sit and listen to her favorite songs. From the very beginning, life was often hard on Jan but somehow through it all she always found a reason to laugh and smile, to tell a joke, and to sing.
Janet is survived by her children, Jerry McMullen (Rhonda) of Hopemills, NC, Sandra McMullen Hatten of Rochester, Indiana, Margaret “Mickey” McMullen Anderson of Peru, Edward Joseph “Joe” McMullen (Michael) of San Diego, California, and Melanie McMullen Burgess (Doyle) of Denver, Indiana, granddaughters Maralee Swift, Molly Powell, Betty Brewer (Kyle Rairigh), Misty Cole (Jeremy), Tuesdee McMullen, grandsons Martin Prather (Bridget), and Jeremie Payne, as well as 10 great grandchildren. Janet is also survived by siblings, Elton Bowman, Jr., Richard Bowman, Mary Faye Yerkes, Nileta Bowman, and sister-in-laws Katy Ade and Jill Poehlein (Mike).
Janet is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Julie McMullen Wright, brother-in-law George Ade, and mother and father-in-law, Lois and Arthur Snider.
